Pokémon drops surprise freebie you've under 24 hours to claim

Pokémon fans across the globe can currently grab a surprise free download in celebration of the 2024 Pokémon World Championships currently taking place in Honolulu.

The catch? You have less than 24 hours to grab it. I guess there's always a catch when something is free, but if you're a Pokémon lover you definitely won't want to miss this one.

To celebrate the annual event, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet players can now download an exclusive Sylveon based on the one used by Tomoya Ogawa in his victory at the 2023 Pokémon World Championships.

Tomoya’s Sylveon has the Pixilate ability and is holding Choice Specs item. Its four moves are Hyper Voice, Tera Blast, Hyper Beam, and Sleep Talk, making it a considerable foe to bring out in any battle.

To redeem this Pokémon all you have to do is boot up your copy of Scarlet or Violet and enter the code SLEEPTALKWORLDS into the Mystery Gift option via the main menu. You need to do this before 19 August at 12:59am BST.

“Tomoya Ogawa was able to secure his victory in the Senior Division of last year’s World Championships in Yokohama, Japan, with the help of his trusty Sylveon—and now you can have it join your team," a press release reads.

“This special Sylveon comes with the same moves and stats as Tomoya’s, so give it a try on your own competitive team! You’ll even see that it has a special ribbon that, when assigned, imparts it with the title “Sylveon the Battle Champion” when it’s sent out in battle.”
