Pokémon leak teases new game, but it's not the news fans wanted to hear

Anything but this

According to a well-known Pokémon leaker, fans can look forward to an announcement on 27 February’s highly-anticipated Pokémon Day.

However, it may not be the news that they were hoping for.

If you want a mainline game, check out the trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet below!

The future of the Pokémon franchise is leaving us with more questions than answers over recent months with fans unsure as to which remakes they could see next.

That being said, Game Freak and The Pokémon Company have quite a few titles to choose from but according to a recent comment by insider Riddler Khu, their next big announcement won’t be what fans are hoping for.

Shared via Centro Leaks, Khu claims that the next project will be related to Pokémon Home which is far from a mainline game or remake.

First launched in 2020 alongside other Pokémon projects such as Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX, Pokémon Smile, Pokémon Cafe ReMix, and Pokémon Mezastar, Pokémon Home is a free mobile app whose main use is “providing cloud-based storage for Pokémon”.

We don’t yet know whether this will be a new update or feature, but according to Khu, we will hear more on Pokémon Day in February 2025.

“Khu is claiming that something new related to Pokémon Home, either a new feature, a successor, or a new game compatible with it will be announced next year potentially on Pokémon Day and somehow involves ‘every Pokémon being compatible’,” Centro Leaks’ report reads.

Of course, it is worth taking this news with a pinch of salt considering it is from an insider and has not been confirmed by either Game Freak or The Pokémon Company.

Not only that but it seems as though fans would much prefer news of a brand-new entry or even a remaster as opposed to Pokémon Home.

Either way, they took to social media to share their thoughts.

“I just really want a game where I can deposit every Pokémon I own onto a cartridge and interact with them in some sort of nature preserve,” Twitter user CrystalLaserYT said.

“Like, I want to walk around, a few hundred spawn at a time, and you can find them and play with them, maybe some mini games.”

Another user said, “Hope it's a new thing where it's like a normal mainline Pokémon game but there's no story and it's a game where you can catch Pokémon, trade, level up/train, etc.”

I guess we will find out on 27 February.
