Set to launch in just a few weeks, Pokémon Legends: Z-A is the next major Pokémon entry that fans can look forward to.
However, according to a recent leak, it seems as though another exciting announcement is just around the corner.
Originally announced as a Nintendo Switch exclusive before a Nintendo Switch 2 port was later revealed, Pokémon Legends: Z-A is set to be released on 16 October and will take players to the Parisian-inspired Lumiose City.
Serving as a sequel to sixth generation title Pokémon X and Y and marking the second Pokémon Legends title since 2022’s Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Pokémon Legends: Z-A is already garnering the hype.

That being said, according to notable insider Necrolipe in a now-deleted Tweet, a brand-new spin-off Pokémon game could be announced at the upcoming rumoured Nintendo Direct.
This was pointed out by Icy-ConcentrationC over on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours who shared the leak.
“According to another Pokémon leaker, Riddler Khu, something new that’s not Legends Z-A related will be revealed sometime in September,” the Reddit user wrote.
“Necrolipe backs up the claim, adding that it’s supposedly a new spin-off game that will show up in the Direct this week.”

Of course, this has not been confirmed by Nintendo so it is worth taking with a pinch of salt but it seems as though fans believe it could be a variety of different entries.
“It could potentially be a new Pokken, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, Pokémon Rangers, Pokémon Stadium, Pokémon Colosseum, or maybe even a Hey You, Pikachu! spin-off.”
As you can imagine, fans were quick to take to the comments to share their own wishes for this potential announcement.
“Honestly Switch 2 Pokémon Ranger with mouse controls would slap,” user grrrreatscott suggested.

Another fan was feeling rather desperate for the return of a 2009 hit.
“Please god, please, please I’m begging you, please I’m on my knees, please Explorers of Sky.”
That being said, another Reddit user made a good point about past Pokémon-related announcements.
“When was the last time Pokémon announced a new game at a Direct?” they asked.

“They usually like to announce the titles on their own and use Nintendo Direct to recap the info and reveal a new Pokémon or two.”
Although an exact date has not yet been confirmed, the next Nintendo Direct event is rumoured to take place this week so it may not be long before we see this mysterious announcement take place.
