Pokémon Gen 10 will be the next mainline entries for the series following the launch of Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
The next Legends game launches tomorrow, 16 October, and it’s really, really good. The new battle system is incredible and sets new standards for the series going forward. To hear more check out our review of the game.
Playing it has gotten me seriously excited for the next mainline games but according to leaks we could be in for quite a wait till they get here.
If you didn’t hear, The Pokémon Company and Game Freak have suffered a crisis; hackers have stolen and published an extraordinary amount of data containing information on projects both cancelled and in the works, as well as some general insight into the way Pokémon games are developed.

Amongst those leaks, new details on the Gen 10 games, reportedly titled Pokémon Wind & Waves, have surfaced including their graphical overhaul, open-world and even some re-designed Pokémon.
Gen 11’s release window was also leaked, and apparently we won’t be getting the games until 2030. This might come as a shock but I can assure you it’s not as bad as it sounds, as the decision has likely been made with new-gen hardware in mind…
Pokémon Wind & Waves will reportedly be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2, which is bad news for Nintendo Switch owners but good news for the series as a whole.
While graphics aren’t the be all and end all Pokémon fans have been saying for years that the series is long overdue a glow-up, and now that we have the Nintendo Switch 2, it’s about time we got one. It sounds like both Gen 10 and Gen 11 will finally deliver that visual overhaul we’ve been dying for.

Of course, these leaks do need to be taken with a pinch of salt as many of these supposed plans could have changed over time and could still change as time goes on.
With all of this information out in the open, it wouldn’t be a surprise to learn The Pokémon Company and Game Freak both want to change course and do something different.
One last interesting bit of info that came from these leaks are details on the next Pokémon Legends game. Apparently a pitch has been put forward for one set in Galar, that wouldn’t allow trainers to catch ‘mon inside pokeballs; instead they’d rally them together like a Pikmin game and use them to battle Gigantamax Pokémon.
