Pokémon fans losing their minds over Nintendo Switch 2 remaster

The Pokémon community really will eat up anything, huh?

Pokémon fans are seriously impressed with footage from a remastered version of a previous Nintendo Switch Pokémon title, now running on the Nintendo Switch 2… and I’m kinda confused as to why people are happy instead of absolutely furious.

Great news, guys! Pokémon Scarlet and Violet finally run like they were supposed to back in 2022, and all you gotta do to play the game you were initially promised is drop £400 on a brand new console!

That’s right, if you drop half your rent on a new Nintendo Switch 2, you can play Pokémon Scarlet and Violet in a framerate beyond 15fps!

That’s because, as revealed by Nintendo via Nintendo Today, the new next-gen patch for the game finally allows you to run this previously unoptimised piece for crap at the original frame rate you actually paid for three years ago! Whoo!

On the plus side, the folks on the r/pokemon subreddit do seem to be happy that they can actually, y’know, enjoy this game properly this time around.

“The distance you can see Pokémon at is a game changer," commented user djoshd1.

“I got used to the framerate at some point but I never got over only seeing Pokemon within 2ft of the character. It might make it harder to despawn and respawn hordes for shiny hunting, but that's a small price to pay.”

“This is the only Pokémon game I haven't played, I held off for the Switch 2,” replied user funkyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

“Very excited to finally visit Paldea how it is suppose to look.”

Seriously, I don’t know why every single comment in that thread isn’t someone absolutely fuming at the prospect of having to drop $450 on a new console just to play this game in a framerate that isn’t akin to a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation.

But hey, at least Nintendo were generous enough to not charge for this upgrade… unlike a bunch of the other Nintendo Switch games on their new platform.
