The Game Awards is officially underway, with an exciting announcement made regarding everyone’s favourite co-op horror.
Kinetic Games’ Phasmophobia has confirmed that it’ll be launching on Nintendo Switch 2 consoles next year, bringing its ghost-hunting antics to Nintendo’s latest handheld.
First launched in early access on PC back in 2020, Phasmophobia is, if you’re unaware, a co-op horror where players team up to investigate a haunting, gathering clues to try and narrow down exactly what variety of ghost it is they might be dealing with.
That all sounds rather simple but, of course, the ghost isn’t just going to sit back and let you do your work.

Players will need to hide during ‘hunts’ whilst keeping an eye on their sanity level; the further it drops, the more likely you are to be targeted.
As you progress throughout the game, you’ll unlock additional equipment and extra maps.
It goes without saying but the larger the map, the more difficult it’ll be to gather evidence as it’s much harder pinning down exactly which room or area the ghost is haunting.
It’s a fantastic game, and that’s from someone who usually avoids horror.

Listen, I’m a scaredy cat, but there’s something about teaming up with friends that inspires a little bravery in me. Although I won’t lie, I am the team’s van princess. I do my best.
Following its original PC launch, Phasmophobia landed on PlayStation and Xbox consoles in 2024, having since achieved over 25 million global sales.
That number will surely rise when the game lands on Nintendo Switch 2 next year.
An exact release date is yet to be pinned down.
The Game’s 1.0 Launch is Coming
That’s not all, as Kinetic Games also confirmed that Phasmophobia is on track to depart early access in 2026, welcoming in the title’s 1.0 launch.
“We’re over the moon to reveal that Phasmophobia is coming to Nintendo Switch 2. It’s something both our community and all of us at Kinetic Games have wanted for a long time, so we’re really happy this long-kept secret is finally out there, ” said Kinetic Games CEO and game director Daniel Knight in a press release.
“With 1.0 on track for 2026, it’s an exciting time to have new players get to experience the game.
“We're so glad that Switch 2 players will be able to join us for everything that’s coming, as well as jump into the wealth of content we’ve added throughout 2025.”
If you’ve yet to check it out, Phasmophobia dropped its latest map, Nell’s Diner, just last month that’s well worth playing.
