Nintendo Switch owners surprised with free game you'll never put down

Good luck putting this one down

Nintendo Switch users have been blessed with yet another free game to play, and it’s one that you’re not going to want to put down once you start playing.

The Nintendo Switch Online subscription service is pretty solid, and while the Expansion Pass is a bit more pricey, you are getting access to loads more free games from Nintendo’s most iconic consoles, including the SEGA Mega Drive, of course.

Check out the trailer for the first Nintendo game of 2025, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD.

New additions are becoming more and more frequent as well, with the latest being one of the most popular games in existence, Tetris.

Tetris is without a doubt one of the biggest games going, and it’s had so many iterations over the years that it’s hard to keep track of just how many there have been.

It’s a game made for everyone which is why Nintendo was keen to snatch it up for the Nintendo GameBoy when it first launched, and why it’s available on just about every platform going today.

The Nintendo Switch Online version is the official NES version and it’ll join the service on 12 December later this month.

In the meantime, you can try any of the other Nintendo Switch Online games, and the other versions of Tetris while you’re at it, as I hear Tetris 99 is still a fantastic multiplayer game despite not receiving anymore updates.

As for the future of the subscription service, many fans like myself are hoping to see it evolve in 2025, whether it be the inclusion of the classic Pokémon games, Nintendo GameCube titles or more third-party stuff like SEGA consoles.

Of course, these additions could come with yet another increase to the price tag, but if you’re a fan of retro games it feels more than justified.
