Nintendo Switch free download is one of the best games of last few years

We crowned this beauty of a game as our Nintendo title of the year in 2021, so when we say you need to check out this free download, we’re not kidding.

In case you need a reminder, at the end of 2021, we compiled a list of all the games we loved in which we dubbed this particular title the best on Nintendo Switch. For that year, not ever.

You might have missed our memo to play this legendary game, though. If that’s the case, it seems Nintendo is eager to give you a second chance with this free download.

Metroid Dread is one of Samus’ critically acclaimed adventures, and easily one of our favourite outings from the beloved character.

“Upon investigating a mysterious transmission on Planet ZDR, Samus faces a mysterious foe that traps her in this dangerous world [...] Hunt or be hunted as you make your way through a labyrinth of enemies in Samus’ most intense side-scrolling adventure yet.”

Before you go thinking the whole game is free, think again; although there’s a free downloadable demo, you’ll have to pay to play Samus’ tale in full.

Though currently, there’s a discount on digital copies so that you’re only paying $41.99 instead of $59.99. That discount will be in place until early July, so if you love the demo, you can save a few pennies if you continue to play.
