The topic of today’s discussion is Mario’s OG arch nemesis and everyone’s favourite lovable ape, none other than Donkey Kong. The most recent outing for the lovable ape was the reimagining of Mario vs. Donkey Kong for the Nintendo Switch earlier this year.
However, we are about to get even more ape goodness with a remaster of Donkey Kong Country Returns which was originally released for the Nintendo Wii in 2010. So in celebration of the Nintendo ape, you can claim free icons to display on your Nintendo Switch profile.
As brought to our attention by the Twitter account NSO Icons Alerts, by visiting the Nintendo Switch Online app on your console, a place where you can find special offers, cloud save data and more, you can claim icons for your profile featuring some of Nintendo’s favourite mascots.
The latest, which are of Donkey Kong and friends (as well as enemies), can be purchased for 10 Platinum Coins, one of Nintendo’s free currencies which can be earned by completing tasks such as filling out a questionnaire related to a recent purchase.
However, you only have until tomorrow 7 August 2024 to claim the free Donkey Kong icons before they’re replaced with something new. So act fast to avoid missing out.
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D will be released on 16 January 2025 for the Nintendo Switch.
