If you had planned on purchasing the Nintendo Switch 2 at launch, it might be wise to start saving now, because it might be a bit more expensive than we thought.

At launch, the Nintendo Switch cost £279.99 in the UK and $299.99 in the US. However, if we take the word of a respected analyst, Hideki Yasuda of Toy Securities, the Nintendo Switch successor could cost $499.99, which would be quite the increase.

Of course, we should take this price estimate with a pinch of salt until Nintendo makes an official announcement for its next console. Yet, if these rumours are true, it could be the most expensive Nintendo console at launch ever.

What’s more, we don’t know what the specs of the Nintendo Switch 2 will be. This estimated price could offer great value for money or it could be the rip-off of the century. Only time will tell.

A recent rumour claims that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be powered by an Nvidia T239 chip, 8GB RAM and supported with 64GB storage space, which would be a huge leap over the previous console. It’s also been rumoured that the console will be capable of up to 120 frames per second and a refresh rate of 120Hz.

Toyo Securities analyst Hideki Yasuda believes the next Switch will be released in the first half of 2025 (which could mean between April-July) and would cost under $499 https://t.co/qgTAsz2rMy pic.twitter.com/qbP3d1Ym3e

Other reports have claimed that the Nintendo Switch 2 won't launch until between April and May 2025. Hopefully, if that release date window is true, Nintendo might make an official announcement by the end of this year and we’ll learn all about the Switch 2’s specs (as well as its official name).

Of course, we’ll keep you posted when we hear of any new information on the Nintendo Switch 2. As they say, watch this space. We can’t wait to find out if Nintendo’s next console is as powerful as the rumours claim it to be.
