Nintendo Switch 2's first official freebies quietly announced

Chill, Nintendo, it's not even out yet

Nintendo just revealed the first wave of freebies that will be available on the Nintendo Switch 2, and they’ll be free to get ahold of before the console even drops.

You’ve still got a month left before you can officially own a Nintendo Switch 2, but that’s not stopped Nintendo from handing out some freebies for the console well ahead of time.

Best thing is, you don’t have to do anything to actually grab these before release, as they’ll be available to use on your console straight out of the box.

As revealed through the official Nintendo Today app (per Serebii.net), Nintendo Switch 2 owners will be able to use dozens of Pokémon-themed NSO Icons for their profiles immediately after booting up their systems for the first time.

“Within the Nintendo Today app, it has been revealed that the Nintendo Switch 2 is to include even more default User Icons than the Nintendo Switch and, with this, Pokémon has finally been added,” Serebii.net detailed in a blog post.

“With the Switch 2, there will be standard icons for all of the Starter Pokémon, as well as Pikachu, Eevee and a Poké Ball.”

Mario Kart World will be launching alongside the Switch 2.

They really aren’t kidding about it featuring all of the starter ‘Mons either, as every starter from Generation 1’s Charmander, Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Pikachu to Generation 9’s Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly will all be available on day one.

It doesn’t even seem like you’ll need to have an active Nintendo Switch Online membership to claim these either, as it sounds like they’ll come pre-installed on your Nintendo Switch 2 regardless.

Gonna be a tough choice choosing who to rep out of all the start ‘Mons though. Honestly, I’d usually say it’d be an easy pick for me, as I’d normally go with Cyndaquil. After all the recent Typhlosion allegations though… I’m not sure I want that on my Nintendo Switch profile.
