Nintendo Switch 2 trailer confirms major feature you probably missed

If you watched the trailer for the Nintendo Switch 2, you might have missed a quality of life addition to the hardware that will hopefully improve usage over the Nintendo Switch.

Some of you may have spotted that Nintendo has added a second USB-C port for their follow-up console, arranging it on top of the tablet body.

There are a few reasons why this is a great addition.

Firstly, the Nintendo Switch only had a USB-C port on the bottom of the device, which made it awkward to hold while playing handheld, with the power cable attached.

You couldn’t hold the console comfortably with a wire trailing out the bottom.

Secondly, if this new USB-C port is fully functioning and up to the latest specifications, it would allow for more accessories to be plugged into the console at once.

This could include a display, meaning you don’t always have to use a dock.

Why is this important? Well, carrying a cable and your Switch 2 over to a friend’s house is a lot simpler than bringing the dock with you.

It would also mean that you could be charging the device while still using a cable for something like a data transfer, or using third-party peripherals.

Of course, we’ll have to wait to see just what is supported through the new port.

When the first Switch was released, it turned out that Nintendo used a custom spec USB-C port, which made it difficult to find compatible cables for charging without the official dock.

Hopefully, this is a more universal connection to give players freedom in how it's used.

Once we know more, everything will become clear.

We’re also looking at that new ‘C’ button on the right Joy Con, which is another new addition, though its uses are even more mysterious.
