The Nintendo Switch 2 finally out in the open, after an announcement from Nintendo yesterday as well as a tease for an upcoming Nintendo Direct where we’ll learn more.

To put it bluntly Nintendo’s new console is gorgeous, and we can’t wait to see more of it over the next few months.

Alongside the new hardware we were also teased with a new Mario Kart game, presumably Mario Kart 9 unless Nintendo has a rebooted title in mind like Super Mario Kart or something to that effect.

Keep that in mind though as it’s already being speculated that the new Mario Kart game is intended to not only be a launch title for the new console, but a packaged in bundle title as well.

Shpshal Nick took to X to say they’ve heard rumours on the Nintendo Switch 2’s price, and that there’ll potentially be two options for consumers on launch day.

They said: “So if the person who told me June release is all but confirmed to be correct, then that could mean the pricing they gave me of $449/$499USD might also be correct. Think the $50 extra is a Mario Kart Bundle.”

Over in the UK that might equate to around £400 and £450 with Mario Kart included, but that remains to be seen.

It’ll be interesting to see if this price goes down well with fans, as it’s a similar price point to a base model PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X for a console that’s presumably far less powerful.

The Nintendo Switch 2 does have the saving grace of being compatible with Nintendo Switch games, though some of the fine print implied not all Nintendo Switch games will be playable on the new console, a bit ominous…

While no release date has been given as of yet it’s speculated the Nintendo Switch 2 will launch sometime over the Summer 2025 period.
