If you like to represent the video games that you love and let your friends know, then you’re in the right place, especially if you play on Nintendo Switch.

While the Nintendo Switch currently lacks the option to customise the home screen dashboard featuring our favourite video games (something that was possible on the 3DS), we can at least customise our profile icons whether it's from a franchise or our Mii avatar.

Check out the Super Mario Bros. Wonder trailer below!

Since the early 80s, Super Mario has been one of the most iconic video game characters of all time making his debut in Donkey Kong before having his own game on the NES with Super Mario Bros. From that moment, we’ve been treated to banger after banger with the likes of Mario Kart, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Bros. Wonder and more.

So if you love Super Mario, his brother Luigi, Princess Peach and the gang as much as we do, as brought to our attention by the Twitter account, NSO Icons Alerts, then you might be pleased to know that you can download free Nintendo Switch icons right now.

The free icons in question can be purchased with the free Nintendo currency, Platinum coins. In case you didn't know, there are two free Nintendo currencies with the other being Gold coins.

Gold coins can be earned by purchasing content from the Nintendo Switch eShop via your Switch console or by registering a physical game cartridge. Gold currency can then be redeemed as a discount with purchases made on the eShop.

Whereas Platinum coins are earned by completing tasks such as participating in quick questionnaires, usually related to a recent purchase. The Platinum coins can be redeemed against free physical or digital items from My Nintendo Rewards.

However, they can also be redeemed to claim the aforementioned profile icons. The profile icons cost between five to ten Platinum coins each and can be claimed in the ‘Missions & Rewards’ section via the home screen of the Nintendo Switch.

You have until 26 August 2024 to claim the latest batch of Super Mario-themed profile icons before a new selection arrives on rotation.
