Nintendo enthusiasts can download a brand new freebie from today (3 December). And it will not only help you organise your day, but it will also bring all the goodness that fans would expect from the console giant.

When Nintendo launched its first console in 1983 with the NES, it changed the market forever. Sure, we had the likes of the Odyssey in 1972 and the Atari 2600 in 1977, but the NES helped launch the video game console into more family homes across the world.

Over the years, Nintendo has become more than just a console manufacturer, despite still maintaining huge success in the competitive market with its most recent soirée being the Nintendo Switch 2, which launched in June 2025.

Nintendo is a Giant of the Entertainment Industry

We’ve had countless merchandise items, animated TV series and movies, with the highly successful The Super Mario Bros. Movie in 2023 (and a sequel is confirmed), not to mention the upcoming The Legend of Zelda live-action movie and more.

What’s more, Nintendo has released a variety of mobile apps, some certainly more quirky than others, and the latest is available to download right now for free, with Nintendo Today on Android and iOS.

This app has been available in most regions since March this year, but now it’s rolled out to even more places across the world, including Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines and Thailand.

“We’ve launched Nintendo Today!, a smart device app that delivers a variety of Nintendo-related events, game information, and fun content every day—like a daily calendar!” reads a post on the official Nintendo website.

Let Nintendo Organise Your Day (What Could Go Wrong?)

Nintendo Today has an animated calendar inspired by the likes of Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing. You can schedule events so that you’ll never forget about any upcoming activity, and you can sync it to your standard mobile calendar.

You can customise your mobile home screen with some snazzy widgets inspired by some of your favourite franchises, and of course, it will provide you with the latest information on Nintendo games, updates and events.

However, it’s worth mentioning that you will need a Nintendo account to make full use of the Nintendo Today app, but if you’re reading this, there’s probably a good chance you have that already, especially if you own any of the Switch consoles.

As for the animated sequel that I mentioned earlier, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is currently scheduled to arrive in cinemas on 3 April 2026, and the live-action The Legend of Zelda movie is 7 May 2027.
