Animal Crossing players won’t want to miss this adorable new freebie, available via your Nintendo Switch right now.
Several years later Animal Crossing: New Horizons is still a fine game, albeit not as good as its predecessor on the Nintendo 3DS.
That said, the most recent update for the game, in addition to the Nintendo Switch 2 version, brought plenty of meaningful changes and quality-of-life improvements, prompting thousands of players to revisit their islands.
Standout additions include the Nintendo-inspired items and clothing you can now acquire in-game like those from the Legend of Zelda series.

While we’re unlikely to get another major content drop anytime soon Nintendo is still acknowledging the game in various ways, one of which being a new freebie you can add to your island right now.
Two new custom designs can now be downloaded in-game, bearing the mark of the increasingly popular Nintendo Music App.
The app lets you listen to soundtracks from a wide-variety of Nintendo games, with new additions being added every month.
Both custom designs boast the logo of the music app, with one being the logo on a red background and the other being the logo on a white background.
They’re very cute and while I’m sure no players will be head over heels excited they’re still a nice addition to the game.
Players with a valid subscription to Nintendo Switch Online can download them in-game through the Custom Designs portal.
The Custom Designs portal also features an enormous library of player-made designs. Whether you’re coming back to your island after a long hiatus or recently bought the game for the Nintendo Switch 2 update it’s a solid compendium to browse if you want your new home to look nifty.
In other news this month is about to drop what could very well be the best Nintendo Switch game we’ve had in years, Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream.

Like Animal Crossing: New Horizons the game is set on an island but rather than animals the inhabitants are your own custom-made Miis.
The game drops on 16 April 2026 but there’s a free demo currently available in the Nintendo Switch eShop.
You’ll be able to create three Miis to kick-off your new civilisation and if you play through the full demo you’ll even get a free hamster costume for the full game.
All of your progress will carry over too so it’s worth doing if you plan on playing later this month.
In the meantime why not head back to your Animal Crossing: New Horizons island? I’m sure your villagers miss you dearly…
