For the more nostalgic Nintendo fans out there, the much beloved Animal Crossing: City Folk has returned with a new Deluxe release.
As much as Animal Crossing New Horizons exploded in popularity during the COVID-19 lockdowns, it’s the older games in the series that fans really feel nostalgic for.
Animal Crossing: City Folk (or Let’s Go To The City as it was known over here) is one of those games, as it was a perfect fit with the family-friendly nature of the Nintendo Wii.
In the years since its release, City Folk has become one of those classic Wii games that fans have kept revisiting. What’s more, Wii modders have also been adding to the game over the years, bringing new content and updates to the 17-year-old game.

That’s what Animal Crossing: City Folk Deluxe does, bringing a lot of small tweaks and changes to the game, as well as plenty of new content. Let’s dive into the biggest differences between that and the base game.
For starters, City Folk Deluxe has 239 villagers returning from other games, including ones from games released on later platforms. This includes the likes of Raymond, Marshal, and Dobie. However, I can’t spot my gal Flurry on this list, which has upset me.
The mod also adds all 94 officially distributed items available to collect, including unreleased ones, as well as 35 completely original items.
You can also access all seasonal events and holidays regardless of location, so that means getting access to exclusive holidays such as Lunar New Year, Groundhog Day, and Midsummers Day regardless of where you are.

There’s a lot more available in the mod, so I’d recommend reading the full changelog. It’s pretty wild just how expansive it feels, and it seems like a must-download for any Animal Crossing fans on the homebrew Wii scene.
Animal Crossing: City Folk Deluxe has just released version 1.1.0, which brings even more changes to the game. Modder SunakazeKun (along with a team of other contributors) has been working on this version for about seven months, and the mod itself has been in development for about two years.
