Mass Effect 5 'photorealistic' graphics leave fans impressed

Good news for those worried it'll look like Dragon Age

BioWare’s project director has commented on the development of Mass Effect 5, and it’s good news.

I’m sure fans are very excited for Dragon Age: The Veilguard now that reviews have dropped, none more than GAMINGbible’s own Emma Flint who wrote her own glistening review of the game.

Check out the trailer for Dragon Age: The Veilguard below

The new Dragon Age game will launch on 31 October, and after that the countdown to BioWare’s next game, Mass Effect 5, will begin.

Mass Effect 5’s project director Michael Gamble recently addressed the game on X, saying: “Lots of people asking me about Mass Effect now that Veilguard reviews are out, and Oct 31 is close. Both are from the studio, but Mass Effect is Mass Effect. How you bring a Sci-Fi RPG to life is different than other genres or IPs...and has to have different kinds of love.”

Fans obviously had more questions, with one asking if Mass Effect 5 will adopt the more cartoony artstyle of Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

Gamble responded by saying: “I'm not sure I agree with the Pixar thing, but Mass Effect is photorealistic and will be as long as I'm running it.”

So there you have it, the next Mass Effect game will continue the series’ trend of taking players to realistic sci-fi worlds.

Unfortunately not much else is known about the game other than that, probably because Dragon Age: The Veilguard was the priority title and now the development team can focus fully on Mass Effect.

What we do know is it won’t mess with the various endings of Mass Effect 3, as BioWare has stated several times the choices players make are important and future projects won’t make any of them canon to respect those choices.

The predicted release date for Mass Effect 5, or whatever the game will be called, is sometime in 2027 or 2028.
