It’s Gamescom Opening Night Live, and a new Dying Light game just got announced called Dying Light: The Beast.

With an eerily creepy trailer showing a squad of military personnel getting torn apart by something very fast and very powerful, the title card was revealed along with an open-world and a fan-favourite character returning.

Check out the trailer below

That’s right Kyle Crane, the protagonist from Dying Light and its expansion Dying Light: The Following is back, once again voiced by Roger Craig Smith, best-known for his performances as Sonic The Hedgehog and Batman.

We last saw Kyle Crane when he supposedly died at the end of Dying Light: The Following, but somehow he's still alive and kicking.

Sporting a slightly more sinister look and some new skills we see Kyle slashing away at zombies while showing off his flashy parkour techniques.

Whether he's now driven by some sort of special infection or just a damn good survivor remains to be seen, but you best believe we'll be there to find out.

The new open-world looks breathtaking thanks to it releasing on new-gen hardware, and hopefully that's reflected in the amount of zombies we'll have to contend with.

One of the more disappointing aspects of Dying Light 2: Stay Human was how unthreatening the infected hordes actually felt, as it was the humans that acted as the real antagonists towards the player.

It feels like Dying Light: The Beast will be a different animal, no pun intended, and put the focus of a zombie survival game where it needs to be, the infection that's ravaging the area.

Dying Light: The Beast unfortunately doesn't have a release date at the time of writing, but we'll probably find out soon enough.
