Batman: Arkham Shadow's first official gameplay trailer has been shown off at Gamescom's Opening Night Live show, and it looks better than expected.

The two minute trailer has given us a glimpse of what the controls could be like, as well as the story it's planning to tell.

Check out the trailer for Batman: Arkham Shadow below

Batman: Arkham Shadow takes place between Batman: Arkham Origins and Batman: Arkham Asylum in the timeline, so don't expect it to retcon the disastrous extension of the series Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League tried to be.

Roger Craig Smith will be returning to play Batman, as he voiced the younger version of the Dark Knight in Arkham Origins while the late Kevin Conroy voiced the older version.

In terms of villains, Batman will be facing off against the Ratcatcher and his cult of minions, but the trailer also gave us glimpses at a few others, including Harleen Quinzel before her transformation into Harley Quinn.

Gameplay looks to be everything you'd expect from a Batman: Arkham game, with combat, predator encounters and detective mode all accounted for, but this time shown through the lenses of your VR headset.

it looks spectacular, and while we'll reserve our full judgement until we can get our hands on the game we can't deny that it doesn't look like the most immersive Batman experience yet.

At the time of writing we still don't have a concrete release date to share, though Batman: Arkham Shadow is confirmed to launch sometime in October 2024 exclusively for the Meta Quest 3.
