Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the weakest Ubisoft RPG according to fans

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is still considered to be the weakest RPG Ubisoft has made so far, it just can’t catch a break apparently.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is still considered to be the weakest RPG Ubisoft has made so far, it just can’t catch a break apparently.

Sometimes when a game releases to a negative perception it eventually makes a comeback once the disappointment dies down. They’re often labelled underrated or not as bad as originally made out to be. Unfortunately Assassin’s Creed Valhalla hasn’t received this treatment and is still considered to be one of the worst Assassin’s Creed games ever made.

Ubisoft adopted the RPG formula with Assassin’s Creed Origins, which blended the traditional stealth gameplay the series is known for with looting, crafting, levelled gear and so on. The next game Assassin’s Creed Odyssey leaned more into this style, but was bolstered by a stunning open world Greece that’s often called the best looking game in the series.

Then Assassin’s Creed Valhalla rolled around, with an open world far too big to be fun, hardly anything to see or do and possibly the weakest traversal ever. The DLC was pretty good though.

Fans are still reluctant to give the game a break, with a new player voicing their opinion on Reddit, saying it “feels so different” to the other games and not in a good way.

One player agreed, saying “There is something about it that lacks charm to me. Odyssey had such a playful nature to it whether you played as Kassandra or Alexios It was great.”

Another complained: “Not sure why Ubisoft feels the need to continue making fantastic open world adventure games, then trying to shoehorn them into the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Make it shorter and it could have been an extraordinary Viking story.”

Finally one said the “empty world” is what makes it everyone's “‘east favourite RPG Assassin's Creed”

The RPG style of Assassin’s Creed will return later this year with Assassin’s Creed Red, which will boast an open world set in Feudal Japan that’ll hopefully be a vast improvement over Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
