Details on a brand-new Assassin’s Creed game have appeared online, and it looks like it’ll take the series in an entirely new direction.

The next Assassin’s Creed game on Ubisoft’s release schedule is Assassin’s Creed Red, new details of which will reportedly drop sometime over the Summer before its late 2024 release date.

After that though we seemingly have plenty of titles to look forward to, one of which being a bit more supernatural and spooky than previous instalments, Assassin’s Creed Hexe.

That’s not what we’re talking about today though, that honour belongs to what appears to be a brand-new, unannounced game called Assassin’s Creed Echoes.

Now Ubisoft hasn’t officially confirmed the title, or the game\s existence for that matter, but it comes from trusted insiders so there’s every chance that it’s real.

As reported by Insider Gaming, Assassin’s Creed Echoes will reportedly be a very different game compared to the previous ones, ditching the solo-narrative adventure style for a multiplayer game instead, though what exactly that could entail is anyone’s guess.

Assassin’s Creed games have tackled multiplayer modes before, like Assassin’s Creed Unity which let you scale rooftops and tackle bad guys with up to three friends.

My personal favourite example though comes from Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, which featured a PvP mode where you had to sneak up on other players and assassinate them for points. You could blend into crowds, hide in bushes and more to get the drop on other players, and it made for some very entertaining party chats.

Whether Assassin’s Creed Echoes will lean more towards PvE than PvP is a mystery, but regardless it sounds like it could be a fun mix-up for the franchise.

Unfortunately no potential release window was given, so if it is real, we probably won’t be hearing about it in any official capacity for quite some time.
