Assassin's Creed Black Flag meets Yakuza in new RPG we never knew we needed

Assassin's Creed Black Flag meets Yakuza in new RPG we never knew we needed

Goro Majima is back everybody

A brand-new Like A Dragon game has been announced, and it’s taken a fan-favourite Yakuza character to Hawaii for a pirate adventure of epic proportions.

Anyone who’s played a Like A Dragon/Yakuza game will know who Goro Majima is, he’s wild, wacky and looks fantastic in an eye patch, so to see him get his own spin-off game titled Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is beyond exciting.

It’s got that Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag vibe, with spectacular ship battles, some serene locations with water you want to dive straight into, and plenty of swashbuckling adventures to go on.

We didn’t see too much gameplay in the reveal trailer, with most of it consisting of story cutscenes and the panning shots of the islands we’ll be exploring, but the little gameplay we did see saw Majima facing off with enemy pirates, cutlasses in hand.

How it’ll link to the wider series is unknown at the time of writing, and it's doubtful we’ll see any other familiar Yakuza faces make an appearance, after all this is Majima’s time to shine.

That being said with all the new characters being introduced and the unexpected pirate theme, it’s bound to be yet another banger entry in the series.

Personally I’m hoping we get to do a bit of island hopping with the ship, getting into a few scrapes with enemy vessels along the way.

As for a release date, the new title will launch next year on 28 February 2025, so you haven’t got long to wait before you put on your captain hat and set sail.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will launch for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, the Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and of course PC.
