Fans recently got their first look at Ark: Survival Ascended, the next evolution of the MMO made with Unreal Engine 5.

Previously known as Ark: Survival Evolved, the online multiplayer game throws players into an open world, filled with mysteries and dangers around every corner. The “goal” is to explore, harvest materials, build bases, and fend off/avoid the rampaging dinosaurs and other creatures that roam the world.

You can even tame some of the dinos and ride them into battle, and when you see another player charging towards you atop a T-Rex, it sets off a primal fear in yourself that you didn’t know you had.

Recently, the MMO went offline to prepare for its new-gen upgrade, sold as a new game entirely, Ark: Survival Ascended, which will completely reshape the game and introduce cutting-edge graphical enhancements, thanks to an Unreal Engine 5 upgrade.

The first in-engine trailer was shared by the game’s developer Studio Wildcard, and it looks amazing. The game’s world looks more vibrant and life-like than ever before, with the trailer taking us through several biomes that’ll be explorable for players at launch.

Wildlife roam free and look as if they’ll have meaningful interactions with each other if you observe them closely. We also got a look at players running around, as well as examples of some of the new bases that could be built if you’re willing to put the time in.

Of course, there were also plenty of dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures on display, with one scene depicting a T-Rex going head-to-head with a Spinosaurus, another showing mammoths demolishing trees, and your average Australian spider attacking a player in a cave.

Ark: Survival Ascended is available right now for PC players, and will launch for Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 in November.
