World Of Warcraft has many things. A long-running series of popular video games, some of the most beloved lore and characters ever crafted, and the eternal souls of millions and millions of devoted subscribers. Now, Blizzard has announced its very own animated series, just to really drive home its dominance.

The animated run will be released in four parts, and is titled Shadowlands Afterlives. There'll be a staggered release of each episode in the run up to the game's latest expansion, Shadowlands. Check out the reveal trailer below, or via this link.

The first episode looks set to premiere during the Gamescom 2020 online celebrations on Thursday 27th August.

Not much is known about the series outside of the short teaser above, but the description of the video reads: "Just as our choices determine who we are in life - they pave the paths we take in the afterlife. Prepare to delve into four realms of the Shadowlands - Bastion, Maldraxxus, Ardenweald, and Revendreth - and discover the journeys souls take once they cross the eternal veil."

Shadowlands Afterlives will be the first original series by Blizzard, and the animation style looks very similar to that of something like the Castlevania series from Netflix.

In related news, Blizzard recently opened up the test servers for Shadowlands, with players able to take part in a particularly wild event that saw a plague of zombies ravaging the lands - and peoples - of Azeroth.

If you're one of the eternally damned souls (like me) who thrive on all things Warcraft, Shadowlands will be heading our way some time between now, and the end of the year. So not too long to wait.
