We've known for a while now that Death Stranding would head to PC eventually and a tweet last year from Hideo Kojima confirmed that the game would release sometime in "early summer". Well, it seems that we finally have a concrete release date of 2 June, along with a collaboration with... err.. Half-Life.
Death Stranding is set to release simultaneously on both Steam and the Epic Games Store and will include a Photo Mode, "high frame rate", and ultra-wide monitor support You can check out the announcement trailer below (go here for a direct link). If you wait until the very end, you'll be treated to the additional teaser of a Half-Life crossover, complete with Norman Reedus' character, Sam, sporting a rather fetching headcrab.

Picking up Death Stranding on launch day will get you a bunch of extra goodies such as 'Selections from 'The Art of Death Stranding' digital art book'', Death Stranding Original Score Expanded Edition (including 10 unreleased tracks), and various in-game items. In case you've been hiding under a rock, Death Stranding is the first game to come out of Kojima Productions, the company founded following the cancellation of Silent Hills and his departure from Konami. For a long time, the game was thought to only be coming to the PlayStation 4, until VG24/7 spotted the missing "Only on PlayStation" logo that normally decorates the covers of PlayStation exclusives. A few months later, Kojima himself confirmed that Death Stranding would be coming to PC at a later date.
Of course, the eagerly anticipated Half-Life: Alyx is set for release later this month on 23 March so it would make sense that Kojima would want to find some way to work that into Death Stranding. I mean, he does seem rather fond of collecting familiar things (albeit, usually people) and throwing them into his game; by the time Death Stranding released, it had a cast that could rival a lot of Hollywood movies. And this would go some way to explain what he was doing when he dropped into the Valve headquarters to hang out with Gabe Newell back in 2018.
