The launch of Overwatch 2 is mere days away yet what should be an exciting time is filling most fans with dread. As I’m sure you’re aware, when Overwatch 2 launches, it’ll be a free-to-play title. The problem is, players will have to play 100 matches to unlock all of the game’s heroes, and new players will have to win 50 quick play matches to unlock competitive mode. These barriers are already proving to be rather unpopular but at least fans can find solace in one thing. They’re thirsting over Overwatch 2’s heroes.

Check out the trailer for Overwatch 2 below.

Overwatch 2 will be adding a bunch of new heroes, but our old favourites have also been redesigned - and they’ve already got fans feeling some type of way. TikTok user hoshizoraow posted the new hero select animations to the social media platform and fans quickly responded by sharing who they are most into, as you do.

One user wrote, “Mcree got me shy,” whilst another added, “Sombra is so unbelievably pretty.” Ashe got a ton of love with fans declaring her to be “my wife.” Another player wrote, “Why is no one talking about Doomfist?” My favourite comment might just be, “Soldier got me meowing. OMG.” You get the idea.

As mentioned, it’s going to be sometime before players are able to unlock all of Overwatch 2’s heroes, with many locked behind a battle pass, but it’s a decision that devs have since defended. Franchise general manager Walter Kong told Forbes, “Heroes are the single most engaging content that we have in the game. As we designed this model, it seemed to be a very strong fit to put those heroes into our new engagement systems.” Overwatch 2 launches on 4 October.
