Bennie had a long and influential career, working on a number of popular tabletop RPGs and video games over the decades. His credits include a number of Star Trek games like Starfleet Academy, Judgement Rites, Starfleet Command, and Starfleet Command 2.
He also worked on the original Fallout, and helped introduce a number of aspects that remain with the franchise to this day, including the Mysterious Stranger Perk and the beloved canine companion Dogmeat.

Back in 2017, Bennie told Steemit that he felt his contribution to the classic RPG was relatively small, saying: "I didn't have that much to do with Fallout. A few maps, some bits of the Hub, and some system messages. And the Mysterious Stranger Perk. And I named Dogmeat – if anything endures of my writing career, it will be the name of that dog."
Bennie's tabletop RPG endeavours are well loved among the community. His work spans Dungeons & Dragons, Champions, Marvel, World Of Wacraft, and The Lord Of The Rings - to name just a few!
Tributes for the writer have already started to pour in on social media, with former colleagues of Bennie remembering him a brilliant writer, inspired game designer, and kind man.
