Open-world Need For Speed confirmed in new job listing

Open-world Need For Speed confirmed in new job listing

A new open-world Need For Speed game has seemingly been confirmed in a job listing.

Well, this is an exciting prospect. According to a new job listing, it looks as if another open-world Need For Speed game is in the works.

If you’re a fan of racing games, there’s plenty going on to keep you entertained over the next couple of months. Sony’s Gran Turismo film, starring David Harbour, Orlando Bloom, and Geri Halliwell Horner, is set to release on 11 August. Then, you can enjoy Ubisoft’s The Crew Motorfest which is due out on 14 September. More of a Forza fan? No problem. Forza Motorsport is also on the way and is set to land slightly behind The Crew Motorfest on 10 October. It’ll be a day one Xbox Game Pass release, words we love to hear. Thanks to a new job listing, we also have some idea of what’s next for Need For Speed.

Take a look at the trailer for Gran Turismo below ahead of the film’s release.

It hasn’t been too long since the release of last year’s Need For Speed Unbound, but fans of the franchise are already itching to know what’s next. Well, as reported by ComicBook, it looks as if EA and Criterion are working on a new open-world instalment. Criterion are currently looking for a ‘World Artist’ who will help take the Need For Speed franchise “to the next level”. The listing says the individual will be part of “an exciting endeavour to create an open world.”

The job listing states, “With a proud history working on beloved franchises including Battlefield, Star Wars Battlefront and Burnout, we're now challenging the conventions of the racing genre to take the Need For Speed franchise to the next level. We are looking for an experienced World Artist to help us on our new and exciting endeavour to create an open world offering the player a fast, visceral and authentic experience."

The team is seeking someone with “an appreciation or knowledge of architecture, urban planning, and visual design.” As ComicBook remarked, it’s not surprising that the game would have an urban setting, but it’s seemingly confirmation nonetheless. A reveal of the game sounds some way off though.
