New Horror Game Wants You To Refund It After Completion

Games have had plenty of quirky premises over the years. From the time loops of Outer Wilds, to boarder control in Papers Please, to the dancing with duel lightsabers in Beatsaber. You'd be hard-pressed to think of a concept that games haven't tackled. Well, we have a new one - the refund policy of a digital distribution service.

New indie horror Refund Me If You Can plays on Steam's refund policy of two hours. Usually it takes about two hours to see if the game is for you, so Steam gives you this long after purchasing it as a sort of "test run" time. This new title, however, quite clearly encourages you to return it - it's in the name.

Created by developers at Sungame Studios, Refund Me If You Can is essentially a maze game. We play as Sarah, a young girl having a nightmare. The aim of the game is to escape from the maze, which looks like an underground labyrinth of tunnels, and avoid getting caught by a terrifying and ungodly creature (we've all had a nightmare like that, haven't we?) It sounds simple, but as you know, it's against the clock.

If finishing the game takes you longer than two hours, it's still an achievement. You just won't get your £3.42 back - which is a pretty small price tag to begin with. However, knowing that the aim is to finish it quickly (and get your money back) will add a new dimension of pressure.

It's a spicy mechanic, which some might call cheeky. Steam are yet to comment on this, but we're sure they won't mind. We're sure it's a one-time gimmick and it's unlikely future games will try it. We can't wait to give it a go.
