With all the chatter about Hogwarts Legacy that’s been flooding the internet this year, it’d be totally understandable if you were unaware that another official Harry Potter RPG is upon us. If so, surprise - it’s actually out right now.

Let’s backtrack a moment. The new game in question is called Harry Potter: Magic Awakened, and it’s a MMO collectible card wizard duelling game with strategy RPG elements. Unlike Hogwarts Legacy, which is set 100 years before the events of the main Harry Potter series, Magic Awakened takes place 10 years after the Battle of Hogwarts featured in The Deathly Hallows, so you can expect to see new characters and familiar faces from the books and films. In this game, players will take on the role of a first year student - you’re able to customise them to make them completely unique.

Take a look at the trailer for Harry Potter: Magic Awakened right here.

“Your journey to master the magic starts here! You are invited to attend the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry,” the game’s official synopsis reads. “Duel in thrilling multiplayer, real-time matches. Browse the dazzling shops of Diagon Alley, solve mysteries as you roam the school halls, show off your moves at the Dance Club, explore the Forbidden Forest, and more in this new card collection and role-playing game!”

One of players’ main complaints about Hogwarts Legacy was its complete lack of multiplayer, so the inclusion of PvP duelling in Magic Awakened is sure to be a hit if it’s done right. Magic Awakened's charming art style also needs to be acknowledged - even beyond the official illustrations, the in-game character models look like cute drawings that have been plucked straight out of a children's book.

Magic Awakened is available to play solely on mobile devices - it can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store right now, totally free.
