It is time to experience the nostalgia as one hit early 2000s games is back and fans are both shocked and incredibly delighted.

Over recent years, it has become common for some of our favourite childhood games to make a comeback and it seems as though one 1999 release is no exception.

That is because Neopets is officially back and will launch alongside a mini games collection in 2026.

As mentioned, the free-to-play virtual pet browser game first burst onto the scene back in the 90s and became one of the most popular games of all time.

Allowing players to own their very own virtual animals known as Neopets, they would get to explore the world known as Neopia as they did everything in their power to make their virtual pets happy, including buying food, toys and other items using virtual currency.

Recapturing the magic

Although there have been quite a few Neopets spin-off games throughout the 2000s, none have quite managed to capture the magic of the original.

However, this upcoming release aims to do just that.

That is because the Neopets: Mega Mini Games Collection is set to be released in March 2026 for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC.

“Whether you’re a nostalgic fan or new to the magic of Neopia, this is the collection you’ve been wishing for!” The official press release reads.

Unveiled in an exciting new trailer, this release will allow fans to “relive the golden era of browser gaming” by offering 25 classic Neopets mini-games ranging from Meerca Chase II to Turmac Roll to enjoy.

With remastered visuals and smoother controls, this is Neopets as you have never seen it before but that is not all.

A brand-new mode

Neopia itself has been updated with players now able to embark on a journey across the world in Story Mode.

Guided by your companion Nyx, you will be able to discover new lore, tackle in-game challenges, and experience Neopets with a modern twist.

This will include local co-op and leaderboards, Neopass rewards, and even seasonal events and DLC to come.

As you can imagine, fans of the original Neopets were over the moon to hear this latest update and took to the official Facebook account to share their thoughts.

“My Steam friends are definitely going to laugh at me but I don't even care lol,” one user wrote.

“Well, *that* definitely wasn't on my 2025 bingo card!” Another fan added.
