Last night, Geoff Keighley kicked off this year’s Gamescom with Opening Night Live - a two-hour showcase chock full of exciting announcements. Dead Island 2 and New Tales From The Borderlands were unveiled, plus we got a fresh look at Hogwarts Legacy and The Callisto Protocol. Amidst all the game reveals though, Sony stopped by to announce the DualSense Edge controller.

Take a look at the reveal trailer for the DualSense Edge controller below.

The DualSense Edge essentially functions as a pro version of the PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller. Like most pro controllers, the DualSense Edge features plenty of customisable controls so you can, according to Sony, “craft your own unique gaming experience tailored to your playstyle.”

Button inputs can be remapped, aim can be fine-tuned by adjusting stick sensitivity, and you can introduce dead zones which allows you to partially move the sticks without this being recognised in-game. The controller's triggers are also fitted with travel distance and dead zone options.

What’s even better is that you can create several ‘profiles’ meaning you can set up different controller settings for different gaming genres that you can easily switch between. The controller’s dedicated Fn button will allow you to quickly adjust the controller’s settings and swap between your various control profiles.

That’s not all, folks. There are also changeable stick caps and back buttons, plus you have the ability to replace the stick modules (although these are sold separately). On top of that, the DualSense Edge is fitted with all of the DualSense’s standard features. There’s no launch window just yet but Sony promise to share further details “in the months ahead.”
