Pre-orders are officially open for the PlayStation 5’s new Hyperpop Collection, and it’s a thing of beauty.

In case you missed it, the Hyperpop collection features three new DualSense controllers, along with three sets of matching PS5 plates.

If you find the PS5’s black and white aesthetic a tad dull, then you’re in luck. You can soon kit out your hardware in Techno Red, Remix Green, and Rhythm Blue, all of which are incredibly bright.

The collection features an ombre design, so the red, blue, or green fades to black; all three styles boast an incredibly glossy finish.

As always, this latest collection of PS5 accessories isn’t cheap.

All three colour styles of the Hyperpop DualSense Wireless Controllers will be available for £74.99 / $84.99 USD / ¥12,480 (including tax) / €84.99 each.

If you also want to pick up the matching console covers, those will set you back £64.99 / $74.99 USD / ¥11,480 (including tax) / €74.99 each.

Pre-orders are now live in PlayStation Direct with the collection described as being "available in limited quantities in select markets". Products will then be shipped around 12 March.

How Does The Pricing Compare to Previous Drops?

These items may be pricey, but it’s about what we’ve come to expect from PlayStation, with Hyperpop no more expensive than similar drops in recent months.

A standard DualSense controller will set you back £64.99 at RRP. Of course, you can typically pick them up with a discount during sales periods.

However, special edition DualSense controllers are normally a tad pricier, sitting at £74.99.

Astro Bot, Hogwarts Legacy, God of War, and The Last of Us collaborations all sat at that price point, as did things like the 30th anniversary DualSense.

It’s a similar situation for the plates.

Simple alternate covers in the past have retailed for £54.99 with special editions sitting at £64.99.

I think what might confuse people is that a different colour hasn’t always outright confirmed something to be a pricier special edition. You can pick up Cosmic Red cover plates, for example, for £54.99.

With the gradient and the glossy finish though, it’s clear that Hyperpop is a more premium range for PlayStation.

At the end of the day, it’s all down to whether you want what’s on offer here. None of this is essential for gamers to enjoy their PS5s.

But if you like what you see and you don’t mind splashing the cash, you do you.
