Is there anything more visually pleasing than a game made in Unreal Engine 5? Although the software has been available to game devs since early last year, last week, a State of Unreal livestream unveiled that it’s now out for anyone to use, meaning that even more talented people can get their hands on it and produce some super impressive things.

We’ve already seen the software used to produce some incredible fan-made remakes, from Silent Hill to Metal Gear Solid 2, but now, one person has given Mass Effect 3’s Omega space station a complete makeover, and it looks unbelievably good. Although it was only last year that we saw the release of Mass Effect Legendary Edition, those remasters stuck with using Unreal Engine 3, just like the originals did, so there’s a definite difference to be seen between the official games and this fan-made work.

Although they might not have been made in Unreal Engine 5, the Mass Effect Legendary Edition remasters are still pretty great - take a look at the comparison below.

Courtesy of YouTuber Leo Torres, as well as a breathtaking cinematic look around the area, there’s also some gameplay footage, so you can get a taste of exactly what a full remake of the game would look like if it was made in Unreal Engine 5. As reported by DSOGaming, Torres used Nanite for the meshes and Lumen for reflections and global illumination.

“This wasn't based off any specific scene from the game itself - rather the overall atmosphere of Omega - and it primarily serves as a chance to test out the latest, official stable version of UE5, given I was curious how the gameplay elements would handle a complex, fully dynamic world - and so far - it seems pretty solid with only minor hiccups,” the YouTuber wrote in the video description.

“Very well done. You captured the exact mood, visuals, and atmosphere of Omega. Can't wait to see the next ME game. Keep up the good work,” commented LFA. “Wow this is beautiful, fantastic job!” wrote Joseph Leto.

Unfortunately, this demo isn’t being made available to the public to actually play themselves, so you’ll have to make do with just watching the video. The YouTuber has posted other videos of various Unreal Engine 5 projects on their channel, though, so if you like their work, be sure to go and check it out.
