Hawkeye is finally returning to the world of Marvel, although you may want to hold off on celebrating if you’re a Clint Barton fan.

Considering we literally just heard that Jeremy Renner won’t be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to reprise his role as Hawkeye any time soon, following a pay dispute with Disney, this feels like oddly bad timing but, uh… we have a new Hawkeye.

Well, to be fair, we’ve actually had a new Hawkeye for a while now, it’s just that the new bow-wielding fella, Charli Ramsey, is only just getting his own comic book for the first time.

Following the incredibly successful new line of Ultimate Universe Marvel Comics and spinning-off from his first appearance in the Ultimates comic, Marvel just revealed that a new Ultimate Hawkeye comic is on its way.

“Before being recruited to the Ultimates by Captain America, Charli was a vigilante, defending their people from Roxxon's exploitation”, Marvel Comics revealed in a press release for Ultimate Hawkeye.

“Now, in an adventure that reveals more of Ultimate Hawkeye's history, the expert archer breaks away from the team to embark on a covert operation to take out the Maker singlehandedly, a mission that will have a massive impact on the future of the Ultimate Universe.”

A new Hawkeye comic that doesn’t feature Clint Barton in the costume? The fans must be furious, right?

Nope! The folks over on the r/Marvel subreddit are actually pretty excited to learn more about this mysterious archer.

“I love Clint, he's the Hawkeye to me, but I’m honestly looking forwards to reading more about this guy,” commented user INKatana. “I know pretty much nothing about this hawkeye.”

“Ooo! I don't want to wait”, replied user Varrel. “Hawkguy has been one of my favourite heroes for a while, both Clint and Kate.. I know nothing bout this one.”

Nice to know comic readers still have great taste, because the current Ultimates run has been 10/10 for me so far.

Still, I gotta wonder what Clint is up to in this new universe. Plus, considering how many elements the MCU lifted from the original Ultimate universe, I wonder if we might see Charli pop up in the films sometime soon?
