MCU fans furious as OG Avenger confirms why they aren't returning

"That's insane and really disrespectful"

One of the original Avengers cast members won’t be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe any time soon, and fans are furious with Disney after hearing the reason why.

Jeremy Renner, the man behind Clint “Hawkeye” Barton, has just revealed he won’t be returning for a second season of the Disney+ series Hawkeye because… Disney offered him half the money they paid him for the first season, and expected him to do twice the amount of work.

“They asked me to do Season 2, and they offered me half the money,” Renner told High Performance (per Variety).

“I’m like, ‘Well, it’s going to take me twice the amount of work for half the amount of money, and eight months of my time, essentially, to do it for half the amount…'”

“I’m like, ‘I’m sorry? Why? Did you think I’m only half the Jeremy because I got ran over? Maybe that’s why you want to pay me half of what I made on the first season.'”

Over on the r/marvelstudios subreddit, MCU fans aren’t particularly happy with Disney’s decision to sideline one of the only remaining Avengers members over something as silly as a pay dispute.

“I'm behind him 100%. That's insane and really disrespectful,” commented user Ntippit.

“He has every right to tell them to kick rocks.”

“So disheartened to hear this. I understand Disney is trying to lower the cost of the D+ productions… but they really missed an opportunity here,” replied user SP1570.

“Jeremy is widely lovely, Clint even more so and the first season was generally well received. The whole incident meant that the show would have received an incredible amount of extra publicity and would have attracted interest beyond the Marvel aficionados.”

Honestly, I’m not usually on the side of actors when it comes to receiving less money, considering how much they make regardless, but Renner was JUST in a life-altering accident.

And yet they want this dude to flip around and do stunts, but pay him less? C’mon, man. You've got enough money, Disney. We know you’re not hurting for cash.
