Marvel's new Black Panther is a white dude, and fans are baffled

Marvel has seemingly made a baffling decision and overhauled Black Panther to a guy who presents as a white dude.

I say presents because his father is T’Challa, his mother is Monica Lynne, a Black Panther deep dive from 1969, and both of them are black, so what the hell is going on?

This all happens in a new Black Panther comic book spin-off, Marvel Knights: The World to Come, and in the first issue, after King T’Challa dies, it’s revealed that his son Ketema is a white guy, after pulling off his mask.

Yeah, we didn’t see this coming either, and now Ketema has beaten T’Challa in a fight for the throne, becoming the new King.

Fans on social media are confused, as noted on Twitter, with one fan saying, “We can’t have s*t.”

Another reader exclaimed, “THEY EVEN COLONIZED BLACK PANTHER!!!!”

We may very well get a reveal further down the line that Ketema is an adopted son, or perhaps has a recessive gene, or even a mutation, that hasn’t stopped the reactions.

“It's almost like Marvel is trying to stir up controversy,” says this user.

Another wrote, “Did the Editor-in-Chief hit his head or something?”

It’s quite a change though, seeing as Ketema isn’t just white, but he has blonde hair and blue eyes, so we can only imagine that the racists are going to have a field day with this one.

This hasn’t been missed with fans, as one said, “I'm so confused and this is gonna give the bigots some fuel.”

This is echoed by another Twitter user, who said, “Watch, all the people who were against race changes are all of a sudden okay with this one in particular. I’m calling it.”

This was only issue one, so there are a few more issues to find out what the hell is going on.
