Marvel officially announces Superior Avengers, with a wild new lineup

We’re all Doomed!

Marvel has officially announced the Superior Avengers, detailing the line-up.

When it comes to super beings, it doesn't get much more super than Marvel’s Avengers. This group of merry heroes is usually enough to save the day when it comes to fighting against the forces of evil, but infamous villain Doctor Doom has taken extra measures to more than level the battlefield.

Check out the Avengers: Endgame trailer below!

The Avengers typically consist of Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye and Black Widow. For good reason, they usually come out on top with the bad guys running for the hills with tails tucked between their legs.

However, if there’s one villain that can sometimes get the better of the Avengers more than most, it’s Doctor Doom and in a new Marvel Comics series, he has formed the Superior Avengers. God help us all.

As reported by ComicBook, in the debut issue of the six-part series One World Under Doom, the self-proclaimed Emperor Doom says that the Superior Avengers are “deadlier, meaner, and all-around superior to any Avengers team that’s come before”.

Alongside Emperor Doom in the Superior Avengers is Abomination, Doctor Octopus, Ghost, Killmonger, Malekith and Onslaught.

“Introducing any new character to the Marvel Universe, let alone an entire cast of them, is both an honour and no small terror,” said writer Steve Foxe in a statement. “So when editor Wil Moss reached out about developing an intense, secretive team of Avengers for One World Under Doom, I knew I had to swing for the fences.”

“Doctor Doom is one of my favourite villains, and I can’t wait for fans to learn the story of his new Avengers,” said artist Luca Maresca. “In designing these characters, I tried to keep as many elements of their classic versions as possible. In clothing or equipment, they always have some reference to their source character or their media versions."

Maresca continued, “I was very excited to co-create new Marvel characters. Giving them a life and a new identity is something I love to do, and as the story progresses, I’m excited to peel back their layers, deepening them and baring their soul! Readers are in for some big surprises!”

One World Under Doom #1 will be available from 16 April 2025, wherever you buy your comic books.
