Remember that survey asking whether or not fans were up for a Legacy of Kain remake? The answer has been a raucous, resounding and obvious "yes" and now Crystal Dynamics is considering how to reinvigorate the dark fantasy series.

According to its market value, Embracer Group is the biggest gaming company in Europe, soaking up studios and publishers like a sponge. These include THQ Nordic, Deep Silver, Saber Interactive, Gearbox Interactive and, since May, Crystal Dynamics. "We see a great potential, not only in sequels, but also in remakes, remasters, spinoffs, as well as transmedia projects across the Group," said Embracer Group of the acquisition, referring specifically to Tomb Raider, Deus Ex and Legacy of Kain.

The Legacy of Kain survey had over 100,000 responses, revealed Crystal Dynamics in Embracer Group's latest earnings call, and not to leap before we look, but it is sounding positive for the series. "We wanted to gain a community perspective on what players are looking for should we revisit the land of Nosgoth and our iconic IP, Legacy of Kain," explained the developer (thanks to VGC for the transcript).

“In the past, we’ve found that surveys typically get between 1,000 and 3,000 responses, but when we asked folk about Legacy of Kain, we received over 100,000 responses," continued Crystal Dynamics. "73,000 gamers completed it entirely, and if you are one of them, we thank you very much, and we appreciate it was quite an effort given the survey was pretty extensive."

"We saw the news of our survey shared across social and press platforms and we really felt this was a great way to reignite this passionate fan community with this legendary PC and console game series," it concluded. "Rest assured, we hear you loudly and clearly, and we will continue to update you on the what if possibilities ahead for Legacy of Kain in the future."

See what I mean? It's certainly cheering news for fans, even if we will be waiting to learn what these new avenues are for Legacy of Kain.
