As an avid fan of The Last of Us, I can attest that we do have a tendency to get ahead of ourselves. Season one of HBO’s The Last of Us series is yet to even premiere, and most of us are already theorising about season two.

To say that The Last of Us has been well-received would be an understatement. In a series of rave reviews, critics have branded the show the ‘greatest video game adaptation ever made.’ The Last of Us Part II’s director has even said that the show may be better than the game. With a score of 84 on Metacritic and 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s easy to see why there’s so much hype surrounding the series. I’d imagine then that the role of Abby is going to be highly-coveted by the time season two rolls around.

Take a look at the latest trailer for The Last of Us below.

If you’ve played The Last of Us Part II, you’ll know that Abby is a key character. I won’t dive into spoiler territory for the sake of new fans, but I will say that we spend just as much time with Abby as we do with characters like Joel and Ellie. Given the series’ hype, I should imagine there’s plenty of actresses with their eyes on the role but fans are pretty vocal about the fact that they’d like to see Abby played by Florence Pugh.

I’m in agreement. Florence is widely considered to be the obvious choice for Abby but for good reason - just take a look at her performances in Black Widow and Hawkeye. Hint: Florence is kickass. Twitter user SatoruBrojo wrote, “Seeing Florence Pugh in Hawkeye really cemented my opinion that I could totally see her playing Abby in The Last of Us,” while GabrielDivina2 added, “HBO should cast Florence Pugh as Abby in The Last of Us. I feel like she has the same tough exterior but can still be vulnerable. And we’ve seen her in Fighting with my Family already.”

Brent_Carroll1 said, “If Abby isn’t played by a ripped Florence Pugh, then what are we even doing.” I suppose the main concern with Florence is that she is older than Bella Ramsey, so I’m not sure it would be the most even of matches. If HBO wants to give me a shot, I’m here - just saying. If not, fine - I suppose Flo can take it.
