Owen Grady is back for one final adventure: Jurassic World Dominion. Set four years after the destruction of Isla Nublar, Jurassic World Dominion brings back original franchise cast members Sam Neill and Laura Dern as society adapts to dinosaurs living among us.

With the exception of 1993’s Jurassic Park, this franchise has never really been a critical darling. Let’s be honest, we’re all here to see dinos causing chaos for two hours but this time around, film critics really aren’t impressed. Jurassic World Dominion is now officially the worst rated film in the Jurassic franchise.

If you’re yet to check out the film, watch the trailer for Jurassic World Dominion below. Dare I say, it looks kind of good?

On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, Jurassic World Dominion has secured a rating of just 30 percent, based on 289 reviews from critics. To compare, its predecessor Fallen Kingdom has a score of 47 percent whilst 2015’s Jurassic World sits at 71 percent.

The Wall Street Journal’s Kyle Smith wrote, “Colin Trevorrow has done something astonishing: In Jurassic World Dominion, he has made dinosaurs dull,” whilst Mashable’s Kristy Puchko said, “It’s clear: Colin Trevorrow is the worst thing that’s happened to dinosaurs since that asteroid knocked them all into the past tense.” Ouch.

The Observer’s Oliver Jones added, “The film seems hellbent on demonstrating just how out of gas it is,” and The New York Post’s Johnny Oleksinski commented on how the film is “the heftiest in the 29-year-old series, but size doesn’t matter - Dominion is also the worst.” I think you’re getting the idea but I’ll let Rolling Stone’s David Fear summarise: “It’s not so much a movie as an extinction-level event for the franchise.”

If you were really excited to see this movie, there is some good news. Fans are really enjoying it! In terms of an audience score, Jurassic World Dominion is sitting at a respectable 79% and the film had the second-best opening day for any Jurassic movie, raking in $59.55 million and sitting only behind 2015’s Jurassic World. You win some. You lose some.
