J.K. Simmons will play Omni-Man in Mortal Kombat 1

J.K. Simmons will play Omni-Man in Mortal Kombat 1

J.K. Simmons will return as Omni-Man in Mortal Kombat 1's first DLC Kombat Pack.

It’s true. Omni-Man, alongside a host of other heroes, is headed to Mortal Kombat 1. What’s even better is that J.K. Simmons will reprise the role.

In case you missed it, Mortal Kombat 1 is set to release on 19 September. It’s somewhat of a soft reboot for the series - straying away from the Mortal Kombat 12 title that most fans expected. The game will centre around a “reborn Mortal Kombat Universe created by the Fire God Liu Kang,” ushering in “a new era of the iconic franchise with a new fighting system, game modes, and fatalities.” We’ve already received our first look at the gameplay which is by far the goriest we’ve ever seen from the franchise. For several months now, it’s been rumoured that we could have a number of familiar faces appear in-game as special fighters. Now we know who some of those are, including Omni-Man voiced by J.K. Simmons.

Take a look at the very gory Mortal Kombat 1 in action below.

It’s been a pretty quiet San Diego Comic Con on the whole. Marvel skipped their Hall H presentation for the first time in many, many years. Star Wars saves its reveals for Star Wars Celebration, and DC already announced its upcoming slate a few years back. We did receive a couple of exciting updates though, including confirmation from NetherRealm that Omni-Man, Peacemaker, and Homelander will all appear in Mortal Kombat 1.

As reported by IGN, NetherRealm’s Ed Boon gave an interview on the show floor confirming that J.K. Simmons would be voicing Omni-Man - just as he does in the Amazon Prime series Invincible. “It’s as authentic as it can be,” Boon commented.

Omni-Man will be included in the game’s first DLC Kombat Pack which also includes Quan Chi, Takeda, Ermac, Homelander, and Peacemaker. It’s unknown if John Cena will return to voice Peacemaker but we’ll certainly be keeping an eye out for confirmation.
