Recently, the Pokémon Card company has had to issue a statement, declaring that they’ve officially ran out of Pokémon cards in Japan…How embarrassing…

Following the release of a brand new Pokémon card expansion pack based on Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, which have become very popular amongst fans, leading them to be incredibly hard to find.

The cards in question come from two new packs, Clay Burst and Snow Hazard, which are both sold together to form the booster pack.

In a statement from the Pokémon Company, it was announced that they’ve officially ran out of the rare cards in Japan, but would like to promise fans of the trading card game (TCG) that they’ll be increasing production levels in the future to meet the high demand.

The company said: “We will continue to do our best so that everyone can enjoy the Pokémon card game.

“Thank you for your understanding.”

It’s a shame because the cards featured in the new packs are pretty cool, taking inspiration from Paldea’s Treasures of Ruin. There are also a couple of new EX cards available for collectors to get excited about.

For fans that don’t want to wait for the next wave of distribution, you’re out of luck, unless you’re willing to pay a hefty premium price for them second-hand. It’s reported that some booster packs are being sold for as high as $3,600, a very high price to pay for cardboard.

Additionally, you can almost guarantee that scalpers will see their rarity as an opportunity, and will most likely try to buy up as much new stock as they can once production starts moving again. This will obviously lead to them trying to sell the packs for an above-retail price.

Hopefully, the Pokémon Company can fix their production levels soon, as there are a lot of Pokémon fans eagerly waiting to get their hands on the shiny new cards.
