007 First Light is officially out now, with actor Patrick Gibson debuting in the role.
Gibson succeeds Daniel Craig as MI6’s best agent, although it’s looking as if the role will be played by someone else by the time the next mainline film rolls around.
Practically everything about the game is garnering praise, including the set pieces, lighting, level design, and - of course - Gibson’s performance.
You may have expected someone involved in the development process, like Gibson, to have had early access to 007 First Light.

It turns out that he’s just like us, though, with Gibson posting to Instagram Stories to show the title downloading on his PlayStation 5.
“Bout 2 lock in,” he wrote, tagging IO Interactive.
“Gotta be wild to play through a game for the first time where you're the main actor,” remarked Reddit user OkayBuddyGuyPal in response to the post.
“Just finished the game for the first time, he was AMAZING in the role. I do hope that if this game has any long term impact on Bond as a franchise, it’s that the next actor also gets the scar. Gives him a lot more visual character,” added ForceFemODST.
“Its actually such a good f**king game, raises the bar for what I expect from devs in the future, best tutorial I have played, best 007 game in my opinion,” wrote Kravenbyte, while LowMoralFibre said, “He's a really good Bond.”
Here at GAMINGbible, we awarded 007 First Light a score of nine with Olly Smith writing, “007 First Light is an exquisite taste of slick spy action and blockbuster storytelling, and is fully what a Bond game should be, but rarely is.”

He continued, “Considering almost every previous James Bond game has been a shooter, I've enjoyed the game taking an innovative approach to portray the spycraft side of Bond stories.
“It’s wonderful to see IO Interactive essentially coming full circle, going from being simply inspired by Bond to adapting the next chapter in the franchise’s 70 year legacy.”
If you’re yet to pick up 007 First Light, our buyer’s guide should help you decide which version of the game is the right one for you - or you might want to take advantage of a free PC offer. Yes, free.
007 First Light is, fair to say, yet another GOTY contender, joining the likes of Pokémon Pokopia, Resident Evil Requiem, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, and Crimson Desert.
We can’t forget that GTA VI is on the way and could completely block out any and all competition.
Fellow upcoming titles Marvel’s Wolverine, Control Resonant, and The Blood of Dawnwalker will perhaps also be vying for attention come awards season.
For now, it’s 007 First Light that’s in the spotlight and Patrick Gibson is most definitely the man of the moment.
