If you live in the UK and have been paying the slightest bit of attention to the news over the last few days, you'll no doubt be painfully aware that prices for, well, pretty much everything, are shooting up.

As far as video games are concerned, it's a sad fact that forking out £70 for a new PlayStation 5 game is about to get even harder to justify. Fortunately, it looks like there's a way to save at least a little bit of money on the upcoming Horizon Forbidden West, with a strange quirk of PlayStation's website shaving an entire tenner of the price of the PS5 version.

While £60 for a new game is still going to be a daunting notion for many readers, that £10 discount could make all the difference for some. If you're looking to make use of such a discount, please do read on.

Many PlayStation 5 owners will probably be looking to order Horizon Forbidden West directly from their console, assuming they're not fussed about physical versions. Except it turns out that's far from the best place to pick up the game.

Looking for the upcoming sequel via the PS5 store only turns up the PS5 version for £69.99, or the Digital Deluxe (ugh) version for an eye-watering £79.99.

But, as spotted by VGC, if you simply head to the game's PlayStation Store page via browser, you'll get the option to buy the PS4 version for £59.99. As VGC points out, anyone who buys the PS4 version of Horizon Forbidden West can upgrade to the PS5 version for free, so picking up the game this way will save you £10. Not too shabby at all.

It's unclear whether or not Sony will change the pricing of the PS4 or PS5 version in light of the free upgrade, but at the time of writing it's entirely possible to grab a cheaper version of the same game - so why wouldn't you?

Of course, this is another pretty damning indictment of Sony's deeply confusing next-gen upgrade policy, which has already attracted its fair share of criticism through releases like Ghost Of Tsushima and Uncharted: Legacy Of Thieves Collection. Spare a thought for those poor souls who already pre-ordered Horizon Forbidden West directly from their PS5 without realising they could've saved a tenner, won't you?
