During gamescom Opening Night Live, a new trailer for Hogwarts Legacy has been released and it shows us the consequences of dabbling in dark magic.
Of course, we were aware that players would be able to choose their own path and there was a morality system that reacted to the way things play out. However, this is the first we've seen that the three Unforgivable Curses - being the Imperius Curse, the Cruciatus Curse, and the Killing Curse - are a part of the game. Given that the game follows a fifth year student, this is some heavy stuff for the player to be handling.

As shown above, we can see a choice that the player will be presented with. Either the character can be taught the Cruciatus Curse or they can be shown the spell which will diverge the storyline. However, it doesn't look like their hand has been forced here, in fact, it looks like the two students are delving into the dark history of the school and must use the Unforgivable Curse to explore into the catacombs of the site.

Obviously, there are a clear clash of morals, as the teacher admonishes them for their reckless antics. Apparently, though, even those who are as pure as driven snow must partake in the dark arts in order to progress. I suppose the real question is who will do what needs to be done and who will be tempted to surpass the limits imposed upon them.
Hogwarts Legacy will hit the shelves for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S on 10 February, 2023.
