Over recent months, Hogwarts Legacy has received a number of announcements which is just as well, as new content has been pretty lacking.

With Avalanche Software and Warner Bros. announcing its big plans for the 2023 RPG, fans are feeling divided and it is pretty understandable based on the studio’s track record.

Hogwarts Legacy recently celebrated its two-year anniversary but other than a minor summer update and more recently, the introduction of PC modding support, content has been pretty scarce and fans have regularly expressed their disappointment.

However, with plans for a Definitive Edition as well as Hogwarts Legacy 2 and an extended version of the first game, it seems as though Avalanche Software is making up for lost time.

Hogwarts Legacy: The Definitive Edition has reportedly been in the works for a few months now but according to a recent discussion that took place over on r/HarryPotterGame, fans are not feeling optimistic about Warner Bros.’ promises.

“Don’t get too excited about Definitive Edition,” user odoggin012 wrote.

“Just remember back in February, for the games 1-year anniversary, they announced a summer update would be coming as a thank you to the fans.

Four months after that announcement all we got was Photo Mode and an exclusive quest unlocked on all platforms.

I'm a huge fan of the game but those asking for an overhaul, I think you'll be disappointed. I wouldn't count on NG+, There are many main story quests that would break if you could just Avada Kedavra your way through it.

As well as I highly doubt any added quests would be continuations of current ones, ie: being able to see Anne after the Sebastian story arc.”

It seems as though fellow fans agree.

“10-15 hours of Merlin Trials added,” one user joked.

Friendly_Zebra added “I find the announcement a little underwhelming to be honest.

They say it adds 10-15 hours of new gameplay, but only 1 story quest. So I guess either it’s a really long quest, or most of the expansion will just be filler.”

It remains to be seen what the Definitive Edition will include, or if it will even still happen considering Hogwarts Legacy 2 is on the way, but it is safe to say that fans will need a lot of convincing.
