It’s been over a year since the release of Hogwarts Legacy and the developers at Avalanche Software have been celebrating the milestone and it may have teased that something new is on the way.

Hogwarts Legacy was initially released in February 2023 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, before arriving on last-gen consoles and Nintendo Switch in the months that followed. Set long before the events of Harry Potter, Hogwarts Legacy is set in the 1890s and you play as a student who has begun their academic career at the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the fifth year to the surprise of students and tutors alike.

At this time, neither Avalanche Software nor publisher Warner Bros. Games has announced a sequel, despite suggestions that Hogwarts Legacy 2 will eventually happen. That being said, considering that Hogwarts Legacy is a critical success garnering scores as high as 85 on the aggregate website Metacritic, not to mention that it made more money than some Harry Potter movies, an eventual sequel is as inevitable as Thanos.

Over on WizardingWorld.com, Avalanche Software have been celebrating Hogwarts Legacy by sharing some very impressive player statistics such as over 877 million potions being brewed, over five million dark wizards killed, over 425 Merlin Trials solved, and more importantly, over 530 million spiders vanquished. However, it’s the last line of the website post that has sparked some interest.

The line in question reads “And that’s all only in one year. Where will the next 12 months take us, we wonder?” Of course, this could mean absolutely nothing and 12 months from now, we might just be reading another website post featuring player statistics. Yet, we can’t help but think that Avalanche Software might be teasing a sequel or at the very least, an expansion. It’s only guesswork for now, but such an announcement will likely please legions of Hogwarts Legacy fans.

Hogwarts Legacy is available now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
