Hogwarts Legacy 2 tease is not what we were expecting

Oops, this definitely isn't how they wanted to reveal the game...

It seems we may have our first official confirmation that Hogwarts Legacy 2 both exists and is in production, thanks to a leaked job listing on Hogwarts Legacy’s publisher Warner Bros.’ website.

As spotted by Game Rant’s Dalton Cooper, a job listing for the “Lead Designer, World” at Avalanche Studios, the developers behind Hogwarts Legacy, more than implies that the studio is actively hiring for positions for a new Harry Potter game.

It also seems that, following Game Rant’s article, the job listing has been updated to remove certain details that previously gave things away.

While the previous version of the llisting didn’t outright reference either Harry Potter or Hogwarts Legacy, it did specifically mention that the Lead Designer at Avalanche Studios would be tasked with bringing in “favourite characters from existing canon and IP”.

“Design compelling characters with unique backstories, motivations, and growth arcs that resonate with players across various game modes”, stated the listing on Warner Bros.’ site.

“Bring in favourite characters from existing canon and IP. Collaborate with designers and artists to make these characters vibrant in the world and feel alive.”

It’s not an exact confirmation as such, but c’mon, all signs point to it being Hogwarts Legacy 2.

Warner Bros. hasn’t exactly been having the most profitable go of things recently, and they’ve cancelled several games and films as a result. Given that Hogwarts Legacy was one of their most profitable games in over a decade, a sequel seems like a no-brainer on their behalf.

Plus, with the HBO adaptation of the Harry Potter books set to drop sometime in the next few years, a bit of cross-media synergy will help propel sales even higher.

Also… it is a bit suspect that they’ve seemingly altered the wording of the job listing after being caught out. I’d expect an official announcement regarding Hogwarts Legacy 2 before the end of the year.
